Setting up your store

Two things to connect: the community you're selling access to, and the perk tiers you want to sell. Payments are already handled — there is nothing to configure there.

Discord setup

  1. Invite the OpenWaterSoftware bot to your server.
  2. In Server Settings → Roles, drag the bot's role above every role you plan to sell. Discord refuses to assign roles that sit above the bot's own highest role — this is the most common reason a perk fails to deliver.
  3. Create your store and paste in the server ID.
  4. For each perk tier, paste the role ID that tier should grant.

To copy IDs, enable Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode, then right-click a server or role and choose “Copy ID”.

Telegram setup

  1. Add the OpenWaterSoftware bot to your private channel or group.
  2. Promote it to administrator.
  3. Grant it Invite Users via Link and Ban Users permissions.
  4. Paste the chat ID into the perk tier you want it to unlock.

Buyers receive a single-use invite link valid for seven days. When their term ends, they're removed from the chat automatically and can rejoin by resubscribing.

Payments

You don't set up payments. OpenWaterSoftware is the merchant of record for every sale made through the platform — your members check out on our secure hosted payment page, and the money is collected by us on your behalf.

That means no merchant application, no gateway integration, and no card data touching your store. Card details are entered on the payment page and never reach OpenWaterSoftware's servers or yours.

Payouts

Every paid order records the gross amount, our 5% platform fee, and your net share. Your dashboard shows the running total we owe you, and the Orders tab itemises exactly where each figure came from.

Payouts are settled to the details on file for your account. A refunded order is deducted from the balance and its platform fee returned to you, so you are never charged a fee on money you didn't keep.

What a buyer sees

  1. They open your store link and pick a tier.
  2. They enter their Discord or Telegram account ID and an email for the receipt.
  3. They pay on the secure payment page, by card or crypto.
  4. The perk is granted the moment the payment is confirmed — typically within a few seconds — and they land on an order page showing their access and expiry date.
